Ven. Karamidule Sirirathana Thero
Ven. Sirirathana Thero, the chief abbot of the Texas Buddhist Vihara, has dedicated Thero’s life to the Dhamma since becoming a novice monk at just 12 years old at Wijayaramaya Vihara in Medirigiriya, Sri Lanka. Thero’s lifelong journey of learning, teaching, and service reflects a deep commitment to sharing the Buddha’s teachings.
Thero began studies at Vidyanikethana Pirivena in Medirigiriya and continued secondary education at Vidyavansa Pirivena in Gampaha. In 2012, Thero was selected to pursue higher studies at Buddhashravaka Bhikkhu University in Anuradhapura, earning a B.A. in Buddhist Studies in 2013. After graduation, Thero spent two years teaching at Sri Parakumba Pirivena in Polonnaruwa before moving to the United States to continue spiritual work.
In addition to leading the Texas Buddhist Vihara, Ven. Sirirathana Thero also serves as the abbot of Sri Sudharshanaramaya in Alkaduwa, Matale. Thero’s dedication to education and community service continues to inspire others, guiding them on their spiritual path with compassion and wisdom.
