Our Story

Texas Buddhist Vihara was officially inaugurated on August 22, 2023, in San Antonio, and later relocated to Conroe, Texas, on April 23, 2024. The temple was established through the generous support of our main donor, Ms. Shanthi Wijay, in loving memory of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shelton P. Jayasinghe.

Rooted in the Theravāda tradition of Buddhism, the Vihara operates under the spiritual guidance and patronage of Ven. Karamidule Sirirathana Thero. Since the relocation, and with his dedicated leadership, the temple community has continued to grow steadily. Today, Texas Buddhist Vihara stands as a vital and unifying presence within the broader Texas Buddhist community.
